U2’s lead guitarist The Edge and his wife, artist Morleigh Steinberg, will be honored at Venice Family Clinic’s Inaugural HEART (Health + Art) Gala on May 11 at 3Labs in Culver City, Calif. Beck is set to perform at the event.
Steinberg and The Edge, who are longtime Venice Family Clinic supporters, will receive the inaugural HEART Award.
Between them, U2 and Beck have won 30 Grammy Awards, including three awards for album of the year – two for U2 and one for Beck.
Steinberg first became involved with U2 when she appeared in the 1987 music video for “With or Without You,” which was the band’s breakthrough pop smash. She was hired as a choreographer during the band’s Zoo TV Tour in 1992 and 1993. Her personal relationship with The Edge began at the end of that tour. The couple married in 2002 and have two children together.
Venice Family Clinic will present the Gala amid the 45th Annual Venice Family Clinic Art Walk + Auction, which will take place in Venice, Calif., May 10-19. Created in 1979, the Art Walk + Auction founded a culture that intertwined healthcare and art and inspired the HEART Initiative.
Venice Family Clinic is a nonprofit community health center that provides comprehensive health care to more than 45,000 people in need annually, regardless of their income, insurance or immigration status.
