Tom Grennan has told fans that his upcoming album will have a “different” sound from all of his previous releases.
It comes as the hitmaker recently dropped the single ‘Boy’s Don’t Cry’ – the third single from his forthcoming album ‘Everywhere I Went, Led Me to Where I Didn’t Want to Be’.
It followed on from the lead single ‘Higher’ which was shared in January, and ‘Shadowboxing’ which came at the start of the year.
Now, in a new interview with The Mirror, the singer has told fans more about the sound of the album as a whole, and explained that it is set to see him take a wholly new approach in comparison to his back catalogue.
“Everything’s good, I’m really excited. The new music is definitely a different sound, so I’m looking forward to seeing if people love it or not,” he told the outlet.
“But in all honesty, I’m nearly 30 now and it’s taken me up until now. I’m finally the artist that I wanted to be and I’m making the music that I really loved and I’ve taken inspiration from old records, new records and really dived into different sounds and different instruments,” he added. “I’ve loved every second of it. Hopefully it goes well.”
The new record marks his fourth album, following on from 2023’s ‘What Ifs And Maybes’, and is set for release on August 15. You can pre-order and pre-save it here.
Grennan’s comments align with a statement shared at the start of the year, confirming that the LP was produced by Justin Tranter – who has previously worked with Britney Spears and Linkin Park – and is “about self-belief and having the confidence to take risks”.
Later this year, the singer-songwriter will be hitting the road for a UK and Ireland arena tour, which kicks in Bournemouth on September 3. It includes a show at The O2 Arena in London on September 6, before wrapping up in Manchester on September 19.
He has also been announced as the Friday night headliner for BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend 2025, joining the likes of Biffy Clyro, Confidence Man, Barry Can’t Swim, Nia Archives, Katy B and The Wombats. Visit here for tickets to all of his upcoming shows.
