With her upcoming Hot Girl Summer Tour looming, Megan Thee Stallion is preparing to enter her new era this Friday (May 10) with the release of her forthcoming single, “BOA.”
Megan unveiled the song’s cover art for her new single on Instagram on Tuesday (May 7), featuring her alongside a snake. This serpent, a symbol that has been a part of Megan’s journey since the start of the year, holds a special meaning to her ardent supporters. It first appeared in her Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper “Hiss” and later in her 2023 track ‘”Cobra.”
In April, Meg was the cover star for Women’s Health, where she spoke about her “rebirth” when exploring the next chapter of her career. “I was inspired to create this album about rebirth because I feel I am becoming a new person physically and mentally,” she said.
Megan’s next album will mark the first since Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years following the 2020 case, which found the Canadian singer guilty of shooting the rapper multiple times in the feet during an argument in Hollywood.
“A lot of people didn’t treat me like I was human for a long time,” she told Women’s Health. “I feel like everybody was always used to me being the fun and happy party girl. I watched people build me up, tear me down, and be confused about their expectations of me. As a Black woman, as a darker Black woman, I also feel like people expect me to take the punches, take the beating, take the lashings, and handle it with grace. But I’m human.”
Megan’s first-ever headlining tour will kick off next Tuesday (May 14) in Minnesota, and GloRilla will accompany her as an opening act. The two recently collaborated on Glo’s latest single, “Wanna Be.”
