Jheńe Aiko has sponsored free massages for firefighters who worked on the frontlines while dealing with the Los Angeles wildfires – find out more below.
Since the devastating wildfires began on January 7, over 180,000 residents of Los Angeles were forced to evacuate their homes. To date, 27 confirmed deaths have been reported, with over 20 people reported missing. Among the people who lost their homes to the fires was singer-songwriter Jheńe Aiko.
While Aiko and her two children were able to get to safety, all of their belongings and memories in the house were destroyed in the flames. She wrote at the time: “Me and my children’s home is gone. Burned to the ground with all our things inside. Lord have mercy. Thankful we still have each other. Starting from scratch. My heart is so heavy.”
Now, Jheńe Aiko and her wellness brand Jhenetics have paid thanks to the frontliners who put their lives on the line to stamp out the five raging, consecutive fires across Los Angeles. Aiko and Jhenetics sponsored free massages for firefighters and used Jhenetics products to help relieve firefighters’ stress and aches.
Aiko and her brand wrote on Instagram: “Thank you to our first responders, those who have spent days away from their families, working tirelessly to protect us. We hope this small gesture of gratitude makes a difference during these long shifts.”
Many musicians have stepped up to help out the affected communities in the aftermath of the fires. Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD foundation have donated $2.5million to help to relief efforts for the Los Angeles wildfires. Paris Hilton also launched a fund for families displaced by the fires, pledging $100,000 and promised to match up to $100,000 in donations. Dave Grohl also spent his birthday making meals for families that had been effected.
American-Mexican band Fuerza Regida have rented out an entire hotel for a week to shelter 50 families fleeing the wildfires.
